How the dates are worked out
Active duty pay is split into two payments a month, on the 1st and the 15th. If one of those days is a Saturday, a Sunday or a federal holiday, the payment is normally made on the last banking day before it. Holidays here are the 11 federal holidays OPM lists for 2027; when a holiday falls on a Saturday, federal offices close on the Friday, but banks stay open, so payments can still arrive that Friday.
